Anna Ka Wai Kwan- Fine Artist

Anna Kwan Ka Wai is an interdisciplinary artist focused on acrylic painting and multimedia work.

Her concepts surround the ideas of society, human nature and psychology, she often integrates abstraction to juxtapose realism through the use of 3 dimensional aspects as well as in her mark making.

Ka Wai was born and raised in Hong Kong. This experience has influenced her art practice through the exposure of dense pockets of cultures present in this bustling city.

Ka Wai has always been fascinated with the idea of experience and life. How we view the world and its creations are a central point in both her paintings and her photography work.

She juggles both social and environmental issues alongside the mind and human experience in her pieces, exploring ways of incorporating society and life within her art practice through interviews, first hand photography ( modelled and street) and people watching.

During January- May 2022, she has been focused on the topic of life, the modern world and memories, taking extra interest in the use of string and threads within the concepts of her pieces.

The intangible is a subject Ka Wai has been experimenting with, trying to grasp deeper psychological drives and desires will be seen in her new collection of work.

She aims to further on the integration of thread and fabric, as well as more in-depth relation to the subjects psyche and personal anecdotes to her future work.
